Warning to New Hubbers – Please read this serious complaint
68
Hello hubbers and any prospective hubbers out there. I am Jefsaid and this is my sixth week of hubbing. I have managed to create 18 so far, this being the 19th and I have really enjoyed the opportunity to express myself through writing which is something I have always secretly desired. First of all, I would like to thank those of you who have made comments, provided feedback and of course followed me over this period. I should give a special mention to Druid Dude and Qwark who have on numerous occasions provided comments and feedback on my articles. Any hubber will know how gratifying it is when someone takes the time to show an appreciation of your efforts. For anyone else who has read my hubs, I hope you have found them interesting and stimulating. I know I have a leaning towards the controversial and I admit to enjoying a good conspiracy theory. I suspect my hubs will become increasingly more diverse as I go along.
Before I get to my point, I think it is important to express the positives I see in HubPages. Firstly, the built-in features in the hub tool I think are excellent and even a novice like me can make an article look semi-professional. The information and support available in the Learning Center is comprehensive and very useful and if that is not enough, there is an entire HubPages Community waiting to help and assist you at every step. There is an opportunity to make a little money through the Referral Program and via Affiliates. Most of all there is a whole world of excellent writers on HubPages expressing an incredible array of interesting articles that could have you reading for a lifetime. However, with that said, let me get on to the main point of this article.
I have a complaint about HubPages, a very serious one indeed. The fact is that I work five days a week and get home fairly late in the evening. On top of that, I have a busy domestic life and often limited time until after mid-night to find the peace and quiet to enable my creative juices to flow. Night after night since joining HubPages I have found myself up until the early hours writing or reading. As each day goes by during my working week, the bags under my eyes get bigger and bigger. More and more hours of each day are spent thinking up new content while I take every opportunity to check what’s happening on HubPages. My complaint is that I have become addicted to HubPages to almost obsessive levels. I mean here I am with a bit of space earlier in the evening than normal and where do I find myself? At the PC on HUBPAGES! Help me Hubbers...
Does anyone else suffer this same addiction and how are you dealing with it?

I have recently just started with hubpages and I think I have a total of 5 hubs out. I at first started because there was an opportunity to make money. However, that does not matter as much now because I am finding myself addicted to! This site is very fun to be on. There is always something to do or something interesting to read!
You are right but have sound sleep for good health and mind as well to write more and more
I am an addicted one also.
Please, if you find a dose, share me.
Thanks
I share your addiction! HubPages is becoming my life, it seems. I even wrote a silly little poem about this problem that I devoted to my fellow Hubbers. When you have time, check it out.
I need to figure out how to bottle this stuff. I've got a week in now and I cant wait to get gome from work to get started again.
Good to see a pommy writing on hub pages....it get lonely here sometimes..from down under! like your hub!
Jeffsaid....You'll get lots of support but no pity, I'm afraid, from a Community full of addicts. It's the HP fever....no cure, sorry. Just accept and learn to love it! Nice to meet you, BTW. I wrote a hub about Hub Fever. Feel free to read it. You'll see clearly by the comments from our fellow authors, we share this fabulous addiction, and have no desire to get clean. PEACE!
Hi Jefsaid! I joined about 7 weeks ago but was off to the jungle (live in Thailand) and forgot about it. I write on two other sites that pay per article written but everything has to be perfect or no sale. I think I will become addicted to Hub as I can write what I want to write about. WOW! YAK YAK YAK!
I know! Me too! But it's a good addition.
Jefsaid, I'm right there with you man! We could be doing allot worse things! I try to make myself take a break, just hard to do, as the hours tick away while I'm at the PC! Ha Ha! Awesome, thanks,
Debbie
LOL. Good hub. I guess we all have the same complaint. Luckily i do not have to work 5 days a week, otherwise i would be sporting those tired old bags under my eyes too.
This is so true. I too have become an addict. I don't worry about Facebook or my email anymore. Who cares? I must log in to Hubpages!
LOL, I think it's part of a secret initiation, myself. :) Congrats on being selected as a HubNugget nominee. :)
I share in your pain. I am getting addicted, also.
I, too, suffer from this affliction. Thanks for a clever hub.
I finally decided to cast my vote in the contest for this Hub. The selling point for me was your picture of the man staring zombie-like into his computer monitor, with giant bags under his eyes. For me, this was a deciding factor in determining my vote because the man in that picture reminds me of me at this very moment. It is after 3:00 am, I should undoubtedly be asleep, and yet I find myself swimming helplessly in the HubVortex. So I decided that you managed to perfectly capture my present condition and dilemma, and thus, you have my vote!
My name is graceomalley, and I am a fellow addict. Nothing for it but to keep writing....
Right there with you!
Hmmmmm yes I think many have the hub-aholics! LOL you are not alone. Well, after 3 years, I am so much better now as I no longer keep on checking/worrying if my hubscore has risen or not and other matters. :D
Congratulations! Your hub has been nominated on the Hubnuggets! Why don't you take a sweet short vacation in Hawaii and read and enjoy the Hubnuggets! http://hubpages.com/_hubnuggets6/hub/Hubnuggets-in
I ration myself. I will not go to Hubpages more than 3 times in any 24 hour period.
Well done!
I think there are some support groups in the forums for Hub-Addicts :D:D:D If not, feel free to start one... Step One - realized we were powerless over writing hubs. Step Two - ...
Nicely done. I have to admit that I am totally addicted to Hubpages and I am proud to say have been the enabler of several other addicts as well. I tell as many people about hubpages and they find out for themselves. I have also been up at the wee hours of the morning and find myself with those bags under my eyes almost everyday. Ahh so many hubs so little time. LOL. Great job, rated up and shared. Cheers.
hubpages is the site I visit most often. I spend quite a bit of time reading other's hubs etc. Have written less than 40 hubs so far, but they are quite involved ones. I haven't learnt the knack of churning out shorter ones.
Well done for writing a hub about a problem that most hubbers would recognize. When I am at work, my head is filled with ideas about Hubs. Sometimes to the detriment of my work.
The first thing I do when I get home is log on to HubPages and check my stats. Facebook and Mafia Wars are in the distant past now.
Thanks for letting me know that I am not alone.
I have a regulator which monitors my every move while on hubpages. It's called "My Wife". If you have one of these, you will spend less time (Or more) on hubpages. Garanteed
Hi,
What you have said is 100% correct for many of us probably.
Great Hub
Cute... I was very drawn in because I was curious as to what your complaint about hubpages could possibly be. Then I had to laugh because your complaint is the same one that I also have. Unfortunately, I don't think there is really a cure for this addiction. The more you are on, the more addicted you will become.
When I am not writing, I am reading and commenting. And if you really want to step it up... go into Answers. There is a bunch of questions asked by fellow hubbers. That has made me reach the brink of my addiction.
Good luck on your addiction and keep up the good writing.
I wish I had written this because that is exactly how I feel! My hubs are primarily photography hubs and I have found this sharing of my photos to be very rewarding and addicting... of course I am also doing a lot of reading as well... so yes, I am addicted and friends from other social networks such as Facebook have asked where I have been lately because they have noticed that my activity there has decreased! Great hub!

Oh my gosh I would rather be addicted to Hubpages than Facebook! (as I've been guilty of) At least I have the potential to earn some money here (someday hopefully...)
